One of my favorite ways to experience a new place is through the lens of a camera. Back in 2021, I got to spend part of the summer in coastal Maine. My old 35mm Canon couldn’t possibly do the scenery justice, but here are some of my favorite shots from my time there.

Inspired by the essays Naples, written by Walter Benjamin and Asja Lãcis in 1925, and Hashish in Marseille, written by Benjamin in 1928, Walter Benjamin in Naples sees excerpts from the two essays narrated over montages of scenes in the city, weaving interpretations of architecture, life, politics, and beauty in the Mediterranean.
